The 2019 Roofing Design Conference will be held at Metro Community College in the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology (CAET) building on November 12th, 2019. This FREE event is open to area architects, building owners and engineers. NEW this year we’re adding LIVE demonstrations and handing out some great prizes!

Registration & Continental Breakfast starts at 9AM
Benefits of Rigid Cover Board is presented by Matt Hartman and covers the functions of a cover board in a commercial roof assembly, common cover board materials, how cover boards perform in adverse conditions and distinguish the characteristics of each type of rigid cover board. Given Nebraska is part of hail alley this is a can’t miss presentation. One AIA credit.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the functions of a cover board in a commercial roof assembly
- Describe the commonly used cover board materials
- Discuss how cover boards perform in adverse conditions
- Articulate the performance characteristics of each type of rigid cover board
Low Slope Roof Systems is presented by Greg Williams and covers low slope roofing systems. During this session users will more deeply explore why low slope roofing systems are important and how critical the design is to the integrity to the entire building system. The session will include identifying potential problem areas associated with low slope roofs for consideration to design against.

- Understand low slope roof designs and the importance of the roof deck
- Review the components of a low slope roof
- Understand the importance of appropriate design and construction to the success of the roof
- Identify potential problem areas associated with low slope roofs to design against
Life Safety With Rooftop Accessories is presented by Ryan and will describe roof access hatch applications, review meaning and importance of thermal break in hatch, review code regulations and OSHA regulations for safety railing fall protection openings, review smoke vent best practices and more. Ryan will also explain the differences between UL 793 and FM 4430. One AIA HSW credit.

- Describe roof access hatch applications for personnel and equipment
- Understand the meaning and importance of a thermal break in a roof hatch
- Explain code regulations and OSHA for safety railing fall protection for openings
- Describe smoke venting applications based on IBC code regulations
- Explain the differences between UL 793 and FM 4430
- Identify design practices for sizing and selecting operation of smoke vents

Product Showcase; Professor & MCC Student Sign-in 12:30
Metal Roofing Applications will be lead by Scott Risdon and will demonstrate metal roof and wall applications along with product considerations like exposed or concealed fastening systems.
Roof Restoration & Repair Demonstration will be lead by Joe Eckstein and will demonstrate repair solutions, discuss the importance of having a sound substrate with restoration systems and explore how owners can save money with restorations that extend the life of the system.
Single-Ply Roofing Applications will be lead by Alan Jorzak and will demonstrate EPDM, TPO and PVC single-ply applications. We’ll show the system applications with quality cover board integrated and discuss important considerations when specifying each system.
APP Modified Demonstration will be lead by Greg Williams and will cap off the event by demonstrating some APP Modified applications.
